Why You Deserve What You Don't Want
One of my coaches often says,
“you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to”
He is right.
And he says this to make me check myself -
Of course, I don’t have to set up systems and show up for sales calls.
I don’t have to send prospects messages or show up on social media.
I don’t have to do any of it.
But I have to take responsibility for what will happen if I do only what I want.
And here’s what that would look like —-
If I only did what I WANTED, I would be on the streets playing guitar all day. Probably homeless.
And for some people that’s their happy place - their calling.
My thing is, I can do that. That’s not difficult for me - to forego financial freedom and obligation for leisurely freedom.
What IS challenging for me (and hence is the reason I make damn well sure to show up when I don’t want to) is building my business even when I don’t feel like it.
Have you noticed how everyone wants to be rewarded by doing what they should be doing?
For example, someone has a calling on their life - so they post to social media and tell the world what they are doing. They want praise.
What about showing up when you don’t get praise?
What about showing up when you don’t make sales?
What about showing up when you’re depressed after a break up or major life trauma
and nothing in you wants to care about your business?
Just show up to show up - to be there for yourself because that’s what it takes.
You deserve to do what you don’t WANT to do so you can be who you’re meant to be.
Raise your standards, creators.
Your purpose is so much bigger than you that it will demands your full attention even when you don’t want to.
